Welcome to Progressive Pockets! Formerly known as Spend Donate Invest! After two years and about a hundred episodes, the show is being rebranded.
I am your host, I go by GG and that is short for Genet Gimja. I want to tell you a little bit about the new name and what this show will continue to be about.
Progressive Pockets, let’s break it down.
Progressive: if you look up the definition of progressive it says
relating to, or characterized by progress
making use of or interested in new ideas, findings, or opportunities
moving forward or onward : ADVANCING.
One thing you’ll hear me say often on this show is that I want to encourage us to do what we can to build the type of world we want to live in, and while there may be a LOT of different issues we’re concerned about and a LOT of options for how we can help, I will always encourage us to avoid being overwhelmed by the magnitude of the challenges and to avoid developing analysis paralysis as we consider all of our options. Long time listeners have heard me say “progress over perfection” dozens of times, so that’s another meaning behind the new name Progressive Pockets. This idea that we are making incremental change, little by little, as we go.
And then Pockets. So on this show topics of how we spend, donate, and invest in line with our values has always been discussed, but the “pockets” in “Progressive Pockets” widens the scope just a little bit to cover other aspects of our daily money decisions for example how we earn our money.
This podcast is not aligned with a political party, I’m not sure the topic of elections has ever come up on this show. What this show is about is figuring out what your values are and how you can line up your daily money practices with those values.
